About Dr. Cates
As a leading provider of optometry services, Dr. Cates takes pride in offering comprehensive vision examinations. She is dedicated to satisfying the vision needs of patients each and every day. Dr. Cates is a board-certified Doctor of Optometry with over 25 years of experience with eyeglasses, contact lenses, low vision, and family eye care. She is a Jacksonville, FL, native and has been in practice since 1995.
Dr. Cates graduated from Florida State University. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Miami, FL. Prior to running her practice, she held the position of Director at the Low Vision Center. She has served as a consultant and examiner for the Florida Board of Optometry. Dr. Cates is the low vision provider for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. She has also worked with the University of Florida Department of Ophthalmology teaching its residents and interns.
